about noah

Noah GroveAs most of you know, our son, Noah was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in March, 2004, when he was 4 years old. After going to several different doctors, we were finally referred to ‘the best’! Lombardi Pediatric Cancer Center at Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Shad, director of Pediatric Oncology, took us in with open arms and made Noah her own. She saved our son’s life. So, you can imagine that we have a very special place in our hearts for the Department of Pediatrics at Georgetown University Hospital, Cancer Division. It is because of the extaordinary care they proved to our son Noah, throughout his cancer treatments and amputation of his left leg, that we feel so blessed that we have our family together at this time. They provided expertnoahgrove2.jpg care plus compassion for all of us. It was like a family there, everyone knew what we were going through.

Today, 78% of the children diagnosed with cancer will survive-which offers hope to more families facing the disease then ever before. Still, we are sure that you’ll agree that working for the promise of a healthy future for the families of the other 22% of children is an important priority.

With that being said, we know we can count on you to help us with our Second Annual Wiffleball Tournament. Our first tournament raised over $7,000.00. The money was given to research and to Georgetown’s Art Therapy Program. Noah benefited so much from doing art, using this as a way of expressing his feelings about receiving chemo, losing his hair, getting sick and especially the horror of losing his leg. It is our goal to raise over $15,000.00 this year. It’s a way of giving back and it’s a way for you to show how thankful you are that your family is not experiencing this. BUT most important is that it is a way to help families going through what we went through.
